For the people who refuse to choose between coffee and breakfast. Cold brew keeps it smooth; chocolate protein turns it into a mocha.
At 140 calories it replaces a sugary café mocha that would have cost you ten times the carbs.
This is number 8 of our top 20 high protein, low carb smoothies.
method
Pour the cold brew and almond milk into the blender, add the protein powder.
Add the ice. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds, until completely smooth.
Taste before adding stevia; most chocolate powders are already sweet. Taste and adjust: a few more ice cubes for thicker, a splash more liquid for thinner. Drink cold.
chef's tips
- Freeze leftover coffee into ice cubes and use those; the smoothie gets colder without getting weaker.
- Half a teaspoon of cocoa on top of the scoop deepens the mocha flavor for one extra carb.
- Liquid first, soft ingredients next, ice last. It blends faster and nothing sticks under the blades.
