  • 1 cup of hogao (Colombian tomato and onion sauce)
  • Fried plantains



  1. Rinse the soaked beans and transfer them to a large pot.
  2. Add water, diced plantain, and carrot.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender (about 2 hours). Add salt to taste.

  2. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add rice and salt.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and water is absorbed (about 20 minutes).

  3. For the flank steak: Season with salt and grill or pan-fry to your desired level of doneness.
